Ceramic coating Nottingham

What is a ceramic coating?

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that’s applied to the exterior surfaces (usually paint, sometimes wheels, glass, and trim). Once it cures, it chemically bonds with the vehicle’s paint, forming a hard, protective layer on top of the clear coat.

What does it do?

  • Protects paint from UV rays, oxidation, bird droppings, bug splatter, and light chemical stains
  • Repels water and dirt (hydrophobic effect), so the car stays cleaner longer
  • Enhances gloss and depth, making paint look richer and shinier
  • Makes washing easier because contaminants don’t stick as easily

Where can it be applied too on your car?

  • Paint
  • Wheels
  • Glass
  • Plastic trim
  • Some interior surfaces (with specific products)

Can it be applied to my car?

Yes but it’ll need one of our machine polishing packages first to prepare the paint for the ceramic coating. Not only do you want your car to look its best before sealing it in with a coating. But proper preparation work is key for longevity of the ceramic coating.

How much will it cost?

Prices start from just £250

What’s the difference between a ceramic coating vs wax

1. How they bond to the paint:

  • Wax: Sits on top of the paint. It’s a soft, sacrificial layer.
  • Ceramic coating: Chemically bonds to the clear coat, forming a harder, semi-permanent layer.

2. How long do they last:

  • Wax: Weeks to 2–3 months
  • Ceramic coating: 1–10 years

3. Protection levels

  • Wax protects against:
    • Light dirt
    • Minor UV exposure
  • Ceramic coating protects against:
    • UV damage & oxidation
    • Bird droppings & bug splatter
    • Road salt & chemicals
    • Light water spotting

4. Shine and appearance

  • Wax: Warm, glossy shine (some people love this look)
  • Ceramic coating: Deeper, sharper gloss with a “wet” look that lasts much longer

5. Water behaviour

  • Wax: Water beads initially, then fades quickly
  • Ceramic coating: Strong hydrophobic effect for months or years.

6. Maintenance

  • Wax: Needs frequent reapplication
  • Ceramic coating: Easier washes, less frequent protection upkeep.

Please note we can offer a maintenance clean for your ceramic coating. Depending on how many miles you do, we recommend around every 4-5 months a good paint decontamination is recommended.
